Cows Milk contains two key nutrients- Lactic acid coupled with Vitamin A- both of these help fight against fine lines, wrinkles, as well as other signs of aging.

Cow’s Milk Moisturizes the Skin

The one major factor that gives away that you work on a homestead is the state of your working hands. What do I mean by working hands you may be asking yourself? Well the dry, cracked, stained ( dirt or oil ), cut hands that come along the territory of using them to do manual labor day in and day out. Cows Milk contains Lactic acid. The lactic acid is known as a humectant. Essentially you can think of humectant as a water magnet. It will pull moisture from the air into the upper layer of your skin. Also I don’t know about you guys but my hands are always in need of moisture. Especially during the winter months, our milk that we use in our cow’s milk soap recipe not only repairs your skin but it also puts more moisture into your hands preventing damage for the future. Coupled with our whipped tallow lotion will have your skin feeling silky smooth.

Cow’s Milk Soothes Sensitive Skin

Cows Milk helps sooth sensitive skin, it has been used for thousands of years. It is the starting point for those who have sensitive skin, especially those who wish to eliminate all harmful skincare products. Would you rather have a soap where you can identify and pronounce all the ingredients, or a soap where you can read two maybe three of a long line of ingredients ? It is so important for our family to live sustainably and simply. One of the main ways we do this is by using our cows milk soap. Our Cows Milk Soap is the only soap that I trust to use on our children.

Cow’s Milk Repairs The Skin

Cows Milk contains high levels of cream (fat) and Alpha Hydroxy Acid. The high levels of cream combines with the plant based oils the we add to our cows milk soap recipe help nourish the skin. The Alpha Hydroxy Acid helps remove dead skin cells by breaking down the binding agent that holds them together. The act of gently removing the dead skin cells it brings the smooth, younger, healthier looking skin to the surface.

Why We Choose Cow’s Milk Soap

If all the benefits of cows milk soap above weren’t enough, let me tell you our story. Our Soap Journey started with our daughter Eliza Jane about a three years ago. It was time to give her bath for the first time. Giving an infant a bath as a new mother is intimidating enough not to mention after her bath Eliza started to break out in hives all over. Then a few days following the bad reaction to the bath, Eliza had developed a rash that resembled eczema.

I had a short conversation with my doula and she suggest using Milk Soap over the store bought soaps. She sent us some homemade soap to try on Eliza to see if it would make a difference. When I received the package the first thing I did was give her a bath. After doing research of my own I knew that it would be safe for her skin AND it would help sooth her eczema.

As a mother I know now why my own mother told me one day I would understand the phrase ” When your babies hurt, you hurt.” I’d do anything to make sure Eliza and Lucas stay healthy. What a relief that not only did she not have a rash, after a few uses of the soap her eczema rash and baby acne went away!

After seeing first hand the benefits of milk soap I dove right in. Literally, I purchased a registered dairy cow . Fast forward three years I now have our jersey Folsom in milk, Mabel due to calve this spring and Josie and Constance that will one day milk as well. I’m thankful to be able to bring our friends and our community a non toxic sustainable safe source for skincare.
